The Boys & Girls Club in Huntington Beach gets TWO New buildings

Posted: Thursday, March 17, 2016

In 2010 Lusardi completed the Child Development Center in Huntington Beach; a 10,000 square foot single-story wood framed building. More than five years later, Lusardi has returned to the Golden West Community College Campus to build a new gymnasium and two-story multi-purpose building. Currently, the buildings are in their final stages of construction and are scheduled to open in April 2016. The 15,000 square foot multi-purpose building houses administrative offices, computer labs, a café, game room, community room, and classrooms.

The 9,500 square foot gymnasium will have various uses for sporting teams including basketball and volleyball. Unique to the gymnasium is the Kalwall high performance translucent wall system utilized to enhance natural daylighting. The Kalwall system provides balanced daylighting, superior thermal performance, and energy savings.

Because the new Boys and Girls Club is within a public school setting, the DSA (Division of State Architect) has been involved and has jurisdiction over all aspects of construction. Our team has worked diligently to comply with all DSA requirements and with the two full-time building inspectors on site.
