DCH Toyota of Torrance Torrance, California
This brand new single-story ecological Toyota Showroom is now complete and in pursuit of LEED Gold Certification. The 22,000 square foot dealership consists of two showrooms, a customer lounge, a café, a child’s play area, several offices, and all other essential chambers for the dealership to operate.
The structure itself is formed of a resolute steel frame and a wood roof structure that creates the building envelope. The exterior finish on the building and 32 foot portal entry is a compound of aluminum composite panels (ACM) and curtain wall glazing. The ACM panels totaled 11,000 square feet and were manipulated into sharp angles and radius contours to shape the building. The four panel types selected were pre-finished in silver, red, black and white to accent the dealership and emphasize the brand.
The building sits atop a 3.5 acre lot and required the installation of a new retaining wall, and the removal and replacement of all sidewalks and landscaping around the project perimeter. Near its completion, LED Lights were installed that sharply illuminate the site; all the while using less energy consumption for a longer period of time.
