Hilton Garden Inn Palo Alto, California
Just twenty minutes away from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco and San Jose is the contemporary Hilton Garden Inn located in Palo Alto, California. Construction included an 107,000 square foot, 4-story hotel with a 2-story subterranean parking garage to accommodate 178 vehicles. Designed by Architectural Dimension, the hotel has a modern feel that includes high-end custom finishes such as interior glass, custom wood wrapped beams and stained millwork. The intention was to also bring natural elements into the hotel including planter niches, wood troughs with Bamboo and self-sufficient vertical garden walls. The project was constructed on a compact 1.5 acre site and as a result had limited outdoor areas for amenities. Regardless, the hotel still incorporated a social outdoor patio area with a custom fireplace. The project was designed to meet LEED standards and is in pursuit of LEED Certification. The building is a “U” shape and has varying roof lines to create diversity among the exterior vantage points. The façade of the building is finished with porcelain tile, cement plaster, and metal wall panels.
The construction of the subterranean parking structure posed challenges for our team when low oil levels were discovered onsite. As a result, the dewatering process was customized and required all the water to be stored and treated onsite before being discharged.
