A new addition to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection is a 36,000 sf single-story laboratory and office complex in Savannah, Georgia. The building is designed and constructed with a highly advanced CCTV security and access control system for maximum security. The facility contains Class 100 and 1000 clean rooms, laboratories, a library, multiple offices, and a high security vault; all supported with a highly efficient mechanical system. The exterior of the building is finished with multi-colored precast panels and two types of form- liners which create a wood grain finish on the surface of the concrete panels. The exterior of the storefront window framing includes sun shades to help deflect the light from the lower windows. The site also includes two large retention ponds and a 15,000 square foot pre- engineered canopy for employee parking. This project has achieved LEED Silver Certification and is also the recipient of the Georgia Chapter American Concrete Institute Low Rise Category.
